Christine Hunsaker Owner of Southern Cremations & Funerals at Cheatham Hill and President of Hunsaker Partners, LLC

With over 25 years of experience, Christine has worked every facet of the funeral, cemetery and cremation business. She has been a corporate officer for two of the largest publicly traded companies in the United States—Stewart Enterprises and Service Corporation International. Christine holds a degree in political science and business administration from Utah State University and a Master’s Degree in international business/trade/commerce from University of Cape Town, in South Africa. She is a Board Member of the International Cemetery and Cremation Funeral Association (ICCFA) and a member of the Cremation Association of North America (CANA) and the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA).

Christine has lived in Georgia for over 20 years and is an avid pet lover. In fact, she is also the founder and owner of Paws, Whiskers & Wags, Your Pet Crematory with three locations in Georgia and North Carolina. She and her partner, Kellie Rowker, a nurse at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, have two dogs and two rescue cats.

Robert J. Hunsaker Chief Operating Officer, Hunsaker Partners

Robert has been involved in the funeral industry his entire life, as his father was a funeral director and they were living in a funeral home when he was born. From an early age, he worked at a cemetery and a group of funeral homes. He finds great satisfaction in helping families during a very difficult time of their lives and enjoys establishing relationships with all those he is honored to serve. Robert has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Weber State University and has worked in sales and executive positions for several companies that serve the funeral industry, including: Batesville Casket Company, Great Western Insurance Company, Service Corporation International and SinoSource International, Inc. He is a Board Member for the Cremation Association of North America (CANA) and a member of the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) and International Cemetery and Cremation Funeral Association (ICCFA). Robert has been married to Debra George Hunsaker for 27 years and loves spending time with his family which includes three children: Jenna, J.R. and Jett. He enjoys traveling, hunting, fishing and anything in the outdoors.

Suzanne Turkiewicz Elkins General Manager

Suzanne has over 25 years of experience in the funeral industry, including positions in manufacturing, operations, sales management and merchandising at several companies that serve the industry (Batesville Casket Company, Forethought Life Insurance Company, Genesis Casket Company and Foundation Partners Group). She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Cincinnati in Community Health Education and her master’s from Xavier University in Business Administration – Finance and Marketing. She is a licensed Funeral Director in Kentucky and South Carolina, a Licensed Insurance Agent and a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (C.A.P.S.). She is married to LTC James Elkins (ret), also a licensed Funeral Director, and they have four amazing children: Kyle, Katlyn, Mary Elizabeth and Suzanne “Nikki” Nicole. She enjoys hiking, boating and spending time with her family.

Suzanne believes that everyone has a story, and that everyone’s life should be celebrated! She says it is an honor to serve families during a very difficult time, helping them create a meaningful and memorable celebration for their loved ones. As a Veteran’s wife, Suzanne is passionate about serving Veterans and their families, and has been honored for her contributions as a Family Support Group leader.

Bianca Migneault Funeral Director

Bianca has a degree in Applied Science in Funeral Service and Applied Science in Forensic Science. She has worked in the funeral industry for 14 years, and been licensed for 9 years. Bianca has wanted to be a funeral director since she was 13 years old. It’s been a passion of hers to serve families in need because she feels she can offer them the comfort they need in their time of grief. Bianca enjoys spending time with her family, especially her daughter, Scarlett. They have two cats, Tinkerbell and Nimbus. Her husband is a huge Eagles fan and watches the games with their daughter religiously.

Betsey Michalak Funeral Director

Betsey graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in 2015, earning the Mu Sigma Alpha Award and Academic Achievement Award. But her love for the funeral industry started several years earlier in high school when she worked at a local funeral home helping with visitations and processing death certificates. Betsey says that she became a funeral director to help people who are facing the hardest time in their lives. Her desire is to make people feel loved and comfortable. “My hope and prayer, is to be able to ease the burden and fear in someone’s time of loss – to be able to guide them through the overwhelming decisions and steps that need to take place after their loved one has passed,” Betsey said. She has been married to her husband for 16 years and has three children and four dogs and cats. Betsey enjoys the outdoors and likes playing with her dogs, gardening and doing yardwork.

Troy Hall Funeral Assistant

Troy Hall joined the staff of Southern Cremations and Funerals in the early February of 2016. He was born and raised in Paulding County, and graduated from Paulding County High School in 2000. Troy was called to preach the summer of that same year. He went on to college and received a degree in computers. Troy also attended Bible College for 2 years at Atlanta Bible College and Georgia Baptist Seminary. He has been a licensed minister for around 15 years and loves ministering to people in any way the Lord presents the opportunity. Troy is married to Yolanda Hall and has a beautiful 6-year-old daughter.

In Troy’s words, “I have experienced a lot in my life physically and mentally, which has helped me to help others in life. I have had 6 major heart surgeries including a heart transplant so life is very precious to me, so I try to live every day as my last. All these trials in my life have made me who I am and gave me a great compassion.”

Leonel is a native of Venezuela. He moved to the United States in 1997 and has been in the funeral industry for 7 years. Leonel is one of the first people that our families get to see, and enjoys being the comfort as he helps the families to prepare for the next steps. Leonel’s professionalism and character show strongly in his everyday work ethic and compassion for the families he serves. He has a kind heart and has been a great addition to the Southern Cremations & Funeral family.

When Leonel is not at work he enjoys going to the gym, being around friends and family. He also enjoys spending time with his doggie, Chloe.

While Grady has worked in the funeral industry for a short time, he has been immersed in funerals from a very young age since his father is a pastor. His previous training and work experience has included college, retail and food service. He said he chose to work in the funeral industry because he wants to help people who are having the worst day of their lives. He hopes to lessen the stress on families that are grieving. Grady is also a certified crematory operator. He and his wife, Amber, have two cats named Lionel and Ruby. His hobbies include playing video fames with friends and going on walks with his wife.

Johanna has worked in the death care industry for several years, including acting as a Removal Specialist. She is currently working on her funeral director's license at Ogeechee Tech. She appreciates working in this industry because "I feel like I'm doing something that really matters to someone at what can be the worst time of their lives." Johanna's hobbies includes crafting, live music, and relaxing on the beach or by the pool.

Khendal has a Bachelor of Integrated Studies in Psychology, with an emphasis in Business Finance, from Kennesaw State University and an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts from Raritan Valley Community College. Her philosophy in life is to focus on the psychological well-being of individuals. Her focus is to resolve the existential questions about the human mind so individuals can have a positive outlook and vision in life. Khendal enjoys traveling, cooking and social hobbies.

Nate White Cemetery Superintendent

Nate White is an integral member of the team at Southern Cremations and Funerals at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park. He has been in the cemetery profession since 2011, and loves that his role at our Cheatham Hill Memorial Park allows him to work outside.

When Nate is not at the park, you can find Nate reading, watching movies, bike riding, and playing with his dogs.

Bella Grief Therapy Dog

Bella is a three-year-old black Labradoodle who has been professionally trained as a therapy dog by Lorenzo’s Dog Training Team. A Labradoodle is a cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Standard Poodle. Her “parents” are Robert and Debbie Hunsaker, whose family owns Southern Cremations & Funerals at Cheatham Hill. Since Bella has a sweet temperament, is naturally curious and loves to meet people, she quickly took to her new "job" as a grief therapy dog and now loves to go to work with Robert. Bella comes to work every weekday in her “work vest” and would love to meet you. When she’s not working, Bella loves to chase squirrels, go for walks in Kennesaw National Battlefield Park, get belly rubs and play with her favorite toys – a stuffed hedgehog and rabbit.

Brett Newbern Chief Financial Officer of Hunsaker Partners, LLC

Brett has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Texas and his background includes consolidation, forecasting and planning, financial reporting and other analysis projects to support business needs. He started his professional experience in banking, then switched to real estate development for REITs in the public and private sector for 10 years. After moving to Atlanta in 1998, he started his own consulting and financial services company and served as the Vice President and Regional Financial Controller for a national sanitation rehab company specializing in restructuring. Brett first began working in accounting for Paws,Whiskers & Wags in 2012, then helped form Hunsaker Partners in 2013. He is currently the Financial Officer for Paws, Whiskers & Wags, Hunsaker Partners and Hunsaker Properties. He's been with his wife JoAnna for 20 years and has 3 children, two dogs, a rabbit and a hamster. Brett's hobbies include camping, soccer, baseball, anything in the outdoors, and spending time with his family.

She’s been a public relations director, managing editor and lead reporter for a community newspaper, and client relations/business development manager for a marketing company. Specialties include copy writing, script writing, social media and developing strategic marketing campaigns. Debbie and her husband Robert are originally from Utah and have three children. Her hobbies include spending time with her family, reading, boating, fishing, and volunteering in her community.

Cindi Branch has her Doctorate in Industrial & Organizational Psychology from the University of Georgia and over 20 years of human resources experience with the largest provider of funeral, cemetery and crematory services in the world. She has a passion for service and training. Cindi is also a devoted pet lover and helped found Paws, Whiskers & Wags, Your Pet Crematory in 2005 following the death of her beloved poodle, Casey. She initiated Paws, Whiskers & Wag's Grief Training Program and helps maintain our strong relationship with the University of Georgia. An avid “Bulldawg,” Cindi makes her home at Lake Oconee and shares it with her two Poodle kids, Rudy and Lucky Girl. She enjoys the outdoors, boating, sports, movies and reading.

Duane has a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering Technology from DeVry University. He has over 22 years of IT experience from IT Management to networking, EDI and VmWare. Joey has 23 years of construction experience, 15 of which were gained when he ran his own remodeling business. He specializes in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, roofing, drywall and painting. He enjoys working with his hands and takes great pride in his work and the happiness it brings to other people. Joey has an 8-year-old daughter with which he spends all his free time. He also has a brother and two sisters.
